Best time to visit Leh-Ladakh is summer from April to June during this time the climate is pleasant. In winter from October to February, the weather is pleasantly chilly at the early phase of the season, with cold winds blowing in the evenings. During the monsoons season from the month of July to September, Ladakh is occur to landslides and roadblocks.

Winter (November to February):

The winter season in Ladakh begin from the end of October and lasts till February month. During this period the weather remains pleasant and chilly, with cold winds blowing in the evenings. In this season temperature ranges stays around 0 to 15°C. The climate is freezing cold, with heavy snowfall during this period and causes frequent roadblocks. People do not like to go to Leh in the winter season from the months from November to February. The winters season on the “roof of the world” can be unbearable. But this is the time for trekking and exploring the region on foot making it the best time to visit Leh Ladakh. If you planning to travel in the winter season in Leh-Ladakh then make sure you should come prepared with Woolen clothes and winter jackets.

Summer (April to June):

Summer from April to June is the best time to visit Leh-Ladakh. During this period the weather remains warm and comfortable and sun shines brightly. The temperature during this time ranges around 15 to 30 degrees Celsius. The landscape is made up by the snow-capped mountains which gives it a beauty or charm. By the late of April, the frozen Pangong and Tso Moriri lakes begin to melt and patches of blue-hued water appear with increasing temperatures. It's one among Mother Nature's finest spectacles. Monsoon (July to September):

Monsoons from June to September, Ladakh receives heavy rainfall in this season. In this season temperature ranges remains 0 to 17°C. This is not and ideal or the safe time to visit Ladakh. During this period, Ladakh is prone to landslides and roadblocks. The rain creates the roads very dangerous to drive or walk on. Landslides and snow slides are frequent during this time as well. Tourism shuts down because the landslides and the ‘shaking’ earth. The weather is refreshing and it is also a great time for adventure activities such as white water rafting which can be indulged in at Indus and Zanskar rivers.

How to Reach Leh-Ladakh:

Leh-Ladakh is well connected by Road, by train and by Air with all major cities in India.

By Air:

The closest airport to Leh-Ladakh is the Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport. It is well connect with all major Indian cities like Delhi, Jammu, Srinagar, and Chandigarh. The Leh Airport is a military airport and security checks are a bit stricter than usual. You can hire taxi to reach the required destination.

By Train:

There is no railway station in Ladakh. Jammu Tawi railway station is the nearest railway station to Leh-Ladakh city. It is well connected with many major cities like Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. You can hire a taxi or a cab or board a JKSRTC bus to reach Ladakh from Jammu.

By Road:

There are two road routes to reach Leh Ladakh; one can either take the National Highway (NH 1), which connects Leh to Srinagar. You can also take the Leh-Manali Highway or roadway, which, although more difficult, but it is full of high altitude mountain passes. Srinagar to Leh-Ladakh distance is 434 km and Manali to Leh-Ladakh distance is 473 km. To reach Leh-Ladakh by road, first reach Manali or Srinagar by Bus or train. The both are well connected with all major cities in India.
