Rameshwaram Tourism:

    Rameshwaram is located on a beautiful island, at a distance of around 570 km from Chennai and one of the holiest places in India. This sacred island is connected to the mainland at Mandapam via Pamban Bridge. Rameshwaram is one of the most famous Hindu Pilgrimage centers situated in Tamilnadu. The main attraction of this temple town is the great Ramanathaswamy Temple, one of the Char Dhams in India. Rameshwaram is dedicated to Lord Shiva while the other three shrines are dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It houses the longest corridor in the world and also houses one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India, where Lord Rama prayed to Lord Shiva following his victory against Ravan.

    There are many tourists’ places to visit in Rameshwaram. Ramanathaswamy Temple is major attraction in Rameshwaram. It is also home to Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple, Jada Tirtham, Agniteertham, Five-Faced Hanuman Temple, Gandhamadhana Parvatham, Dhanushkodi, Kothandaramaswamy Temple and many more. Beautiful beaches at Olaikuda, Danushkodi and Corridord Pamban are other attractions apart from the religious point of view.

Best time to visit Rameshwaram:

    Best time to visit Rameshwaram is winter from October to March; during this period the climate is pleasant to explore attractions. Rameswaram receives average rainfall in monsoons from July to September; which also makes it a best time to visit Rameswaram. Rameshwaram has hot climate in summer from April to May, but the morning, evening and night time are pleasant enough for sightseeing.

How to reach Rameshwaram:

By Air:
The nearest airport to Rameshwaram is at Madurai and Tuticorin Airport, Madurai airport is located at a distance of around 170 km and Tuticorin  airport is located at a distance around 142 km. These airports are well connected by flights to many Indian cities like Chennai, Trichy, Bengaluru and Mumbai. You can hire a taxi from airport to reach destination.

By Train:
Rameshwaram Railway Station is major railhead. It is well connected by rail to major cities of Tamil Nadu like Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Thanjavur and Trichy. You can hire a taxi from airport to reach destination.

By Road:
Rameswaram is well connected to various cities of the southern part of the country by road. Tamil Nadu Road Transport Corporation buses play regularly from Chennai, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Trichy and other cities to Rameshwaram. Rameshwaram can also be reached by car through different routes.
