Karnala:

    Commonly known as the ‘Funnel Hill’, Karnala fort is located in Raigad District of Maharashtra. It is at a distance around 47 km from Mumbai & 10 km from Panvel. The fort actually consists of two elevations, of which one is at a higher level and the other is slightly lower. The higher tower has an interesting 125 ft. tall basalt pillar, which is also known as Pandu’s Tower that was used as a watchtower in ancient times. Karnala offers such a cinematic view of the lush forests and the greenery that surrounds it that you’ll feel like staying here forever.  It is primarily known for the bird sanctuary. It’s a protected spot that lies within the vast expanse of Karnala Bird sanctuary. You can invoke into the exciting weekday trekking at this fort, and you can even explore the ruins of this fort once you’re over here. The trek to the top of the fort takes at least 2 hours if you are in good health, and a little lesser while walking back down. You can see Prabalgad and Rajmachi forts on the northern side from the top of Karnala Fort. The climate in this region is usually pleasant, Karnala is one of the coolest and best places to visit in Maharashtra.
